We are proud to present this 11th edition of the CIGA Junior Competition, which is already establishing itself as one of the most important international guitar competitions for young people and will take place from November 22 to 24, 2024 in Valencia.
The knockout phase will be done online and the deadline to register is October 19, 2024.

- The Competition is open to guitarists of any nationality, except for those who have won the First Prize in the same category in previous editions.
- There are four categories:
- Category A: up to 10 years old
- Category B: up to 13 years old
- Category C: up to 17 years old
- Category D: up to 24 years old
and two stages: Preliminary (online) and Final. Contestants in each category must not exceed the age limit as of October 19, 2024.
- The pieces must be performed from memory, except in Categories A and B, where it is optional. Pieces may not be repeated in different rounds. The Jury reserves the right to interrupt a contestant’s performance.
- The Final round will be public, with free entry. It may be recorded and broadcasted by any technical or audiovisual means. Participants waive any rights derived from this.
- The Final round will take place on Saturday, November 23, in person at the Superior Conservatory of Music "Joaquín Rodrigo" in Valencia. The organization will inform each registered contestant by email or phone (following the announcement of the Preliminary round results) about the exact time and location of the Final round, as well as the order of performance, which will be alphabetical. This information will also be posted on social media and the following websites: www.fundacionalhambraguitarras.com
- The organization reserves the right to modify dates, venues, and any other aspects that may arise.
- Contestants advancing to the Final must provide proper identification, presenting an ID, passport, or family book. Failure to appear in the assigned performance order or providing false documentation will result in disqualification.
- Contestants must submit three copies of each piece they wish to perform to the organization before the start of the competition.
- The organization is not responsible for compensating any damages caused or suffered by the contestants due to the competition.
- The jury’s decision is final. By registering, contestants accept the rules.
ROUNDS
The Preliminary rounds will be conducted online.
Contestants must submit a video link, adhering to the time limits for their category. The video link should be included in the registration form.

The video must be original and recorded specifically for the 11th CIGAJ, without cuts, interruptions, or audio manipulation.
The guitarist must introduce themselves at the beginning of the video, stating:
- Their full name
- Recording date
- The purpose of the recording (11th CIGAJ)
- The piece(s) to be performed.
Deadline: October 19, 2024.
The results of the Preliminary rounds and the list of guitarists advancing to the Final round (in person) will be announced in the last week of October.
The official presentation of the CIGAJ will take place on Friday, November 22, at 7:00 p.m.*
The Final rounds will take place on Saturday, November 23, starting at 10:00 a.m.*
The Award Ceremony will be held on Sunday, November 24, at 12:00 p.m. (attendance by the winners is mandatory unless justified).*
*In the Auditorium of the Superior Conservatory of Music "Joaquín Rodrigo" in Valencia.
The competition organizers will notify contestants in advance of the Final round schedule for each category, to allow for adequate logistics planning.
Category A:
- Preliminary and Final: Free repertoire with a maximum duration of 4 minutes per round.
Category B:
- Preliminary and Final: Free repertoire with a maximum duration of 5 minutes per round.
Category C:
- Preliminary: Free repertoire with a maximum duration of 7 minutes.
- Final: Free repertoire with a maximum duration of 15 minutes.
Category D:
- Preliminary: Free repertoire with a maximum duration of 8 minutes.
- Final: Free repertoire with a maximum duration of 20 minutes.

This year the level has been very high and we have had a very large call for entries. This is why it was very difficult for the Jury to select the Finalists.
Congratulations to all of you for your effort and dedication, both to those of you who have passed and to those of you who have fallen by the wayside. Keep on pursuing your dream with enthusiasm and true passion as you show every day with your study and musical work.

The Final was held in a public session on 23 November 2024 in the auditorium of the CSM of Valencia and after listening to the contestants in the different categories who participated and performed works in accordance with the rules of the competition,
